The Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries celebrates 20 years

The 20th Anniversary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) was celebrated at the Portuguese Embassy on May 12. The commemoration was a result of a joint effort of all “CPLP” countries with Embassies in Washington DC: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Portugal, and Timor-Leste. The celebration included an exhibition about the economic importance of the Portuguese language, regional artifacts, and typical gastronomy. The evening ended up in fashion with a lively musical show performed by Brazilian artists Cissa Paz and Rose Moraes, and Toi Pinto, from Cape Verde.
